Pied Piper Kindergarten. The children enjoy participating in a wide variety of activities at Pied Piper Kindergarten. At different child development stages our children get the best start to a great life in our quality childcare centre.
In the Cherubs nursery: Children in the nursery are beginning to learn about themselves and are becoming aware of the world and people around them. Babies learn through senses and will spend much of the day exploring - feeling different textures, hearing sounds, smelling and tasting new things for the very first time. What a wonderful way to learn.
In the toddlers rooms: Pied Pipers Lily's and Cupids are curious and busy little people. They learn by experimenting for instance what happens when they mix colours together. Social learning happens easy at our childcare centres is very important for children in this age group. Toddlers are beginning to learn important life lessons such as friendship, learning to share and take turns.
In the preschool group: Children in our Sunshine, Rainbow and Daisy Rooms are becoming increasingly independent. They're starting to use reasoning and problem solving skills. Strong friendships are made at childcare and a lot of fun is had when learning new skills and refining some of the skills already mastered. They are also developing their attention span and important skills for big school and beyond. Our extensive school readiness program is a great success with many of our past students excelling in their schooling life.

Skin cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia and unfortunately, our skin cancer rates are the highest in the world. The good news is that skin cancer is one of the most preventable cancers.
We know that the more sun exposure individuals receive in childhood the greater their risk of developing skin cancer as adults.
Babies and toddlers are most sensitive to sun exposure due to their delicate skin. While keeping a hat and sunglasses on a toddler is not an easy task, there are a range of measures you can take to reduce sun damage for your little ones and ensure your child care centre is equipped to provide the same protection.
The Cancer Council recommends the following precautions.
Minimise outdoor activities during peak UV times.
UV radiation levels are highest between 10am and 3pm.
It is possible to burn on cool or cloudy days.
Use the Bureau of Meteorology's daily SunSmart UV alert at www.sunsmart.com.au.
SunSmart hats and clothing are essential.
Always pack a broad-brimmed hat (8-10cm brim), bucket hat (at least 5cm brim) or legionnaire cap.
Provide loose, comfortable clothing that protects the arms, legs, body and neck from the sun.
Closely woven fabrics provide better protection.
Be a SunSmart role model.
Lead by example and ensure your child care provider follows suit.
Make sure during outside activities staff as well as children are wearing appropriate hats, clothing, sunscreen and sunglasses.
Encourage children to play in the shade. Check that the child care facility has adequate shade in its playground. Ensure activities and play equipment are set up in the shade. Use an SPF 30+, broad spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen. Apply sunscreen to body parts not covered by hats or clothing 20 minutes before going into the sun. Reapply at least every two hours. Apply sunscreen in the morning at least 20 minutes before your child goes to care.
Give permission for the centre to administer sunscreen to your child. In the case of allergies, ensure you pack appropriate sunscreen in your child's bag that is clearly labelled.
Protect your child's eyes with sunglasses. There are many effective and inexpensive children's sunglasses available.
Make sure they are close fitting around the eyes to provide maximum protection. Check they comply with Australian Standard 1067:1998 and carry a label stating EPF 10 (Eye Protection Factor) rating 10'.
Ensure that staying SunSmart becomes a lifestyle habit for your child. Look around your child care centre for posters and other items encouraging sun safety. Sun protection should be a part of the centre's learning program. Choose a child care provider that participates in the SunSmart Early Childhood Program.
A program sponsored by the Cancer Council that supports child care services to develop and implement a sun protection policy.
The Cancer Council recommends that children under the age of 12 months should not be exposed to direct sunlight.
