South West Kids Clinic
School Ready Group. Ensuring a smooth transition to kindergarten. The transition from child care to kindergarten is a big step in every child’s life. Taking the time to prepare your child for school entry is essential for his/her academic and emotional success. Our small group program provides the optimal environment to teach your child the necessary skills for the smooth transition into formal schooling. The use of fun and innovative teaching methods ensures that each child adopts a healthy attitude to learning.
Throughout the group, your child will develop:
- Fine motor skills (cutting, drawing, name writing, pencil grasp)
- Pre-literacy skills and language expansion
- Following instructions in the classroom
- Attention and organisational skills
- Social skills
- Self help skills (putting on shoes and jumpers, opening wrappers)
Group sizes are limited to ensure that each child receives the individual focus of our experienced therapists to achieve mastery over each developmental area. The group is open to children who are entering school in 2015 and caters for all skill levels. If your child is not currently attending the clinic, he/she will undergo a brief screening assessment to determine current skill levels. This ensures that your child will be matched with children of a similar skill level. Your child will attend a 2 hour group session each week for 8 weeks.
